Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Clean energy solutions, including solar, wind, and bioenergy, are critical in addressing environmental challenges and fostering sustainable development. In regions like Birnin Kebbi LGA, Kebbi State, clean energy adoption is essential for reducing dependence on fossil fuels, minimizing environmental degradation, and improving energy access for underserved populations. Public Relations (PR) plays a significant role in promoting clean energy solutions by raising awareness, dispelling misconceptions, and encouraging stakeholder participation.
PR campaigns leverage media platforms, community engagement, and strategic messaging to highlight the economic and environmental benefits of clean energy. Recent research demonstrates that effective PR can catalyze behavioral change and support policy advocacy for renewable energy adoption (Ahmed & Bello, 2023). This study explores how PR initiatives can promote clean energy solutions in Birnin Kebbi LGA.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the availability of clean energy technologies, adoption rates in Birnin Kebbi LGA remain low due to limited awareness, cultural resistance, and lack of trust in new energy solutions. While PR campaigns have been instrumental in promoting clean energy in other regions, their application in Birnin Kebbi has been insufficiently documented. This study seeks to address this gap by exploring the role of PR in promoting clean energy solutions.
